Gene Potter has been the Director of Golf at Westwood since 2007. He began his career at Essex County Country Club in New Jersey and after being elected into the PGA of America, became the Head Professional at Essex County’s West Course. Although having grown up in New Jersey, Gene earned a degree in business administration from Trinity University in San Antonio and later returned there to work at Pecan Valley Golf Club which had hosted the 1967 PGA of America Championship. Leaving the club side of the golf business, he spent several years as a sales representative for some of the industry's most prestigious companies. Being an excellent teacher and player, Gene enjoys helping the members improve their game with his simple teaching methods. “The game of golf is actually quite easy – it is us who make it so hard.”
