The first hole at Westwood is a great opening par 5 with ample space off the tee.  Players must avoid a large fairway bunker positioned to the left of the fairway as the hole gently doglegs towards the right.  From the approach, players must determine how they’ll hit their shots into an elevated green with deep bunkering protecting the front left and right sides. Be sure to stay below the hole on the first green as it severely slopes from back to front as many of the greens at Westwood.

One of a few challenging par 4’s on the course, players are faced with a long hole with a tight driving corridor and water left of the fairway.  Shots played into the green can be bounced as the approach is open.  A bunker protects the right side of the green.

The first par 3 on the course plays alongside Brays Bayou and is protected by bunkering on the left and right.  Water can be found with an ill struck tee shot short and left of the green or by too strong an iron to a back hole location.

A good short par 4 measuring around 400 yards from the back tees.  Finding the fairway on this gentle right to left dogleg is pertinent to set up the best approach as you try to avoid the deep swale that sits to the left of the landing area.  The toughest hole locations reside in the back third of the green, hence the entire complex slopes severely from back to front. This green is protected by bunkering on the left and front right.

A great risk/reward par 4 that is reachable from the tee for the stronger hitter. Players can either take less than driver to position their approach or break out the driver to try and hit it around the green.  The fifth fairway is guarded by deep bunkers as it weaves in and out towards the green. The elevated putting surface is protected by large bunkers short both left and right in addition to the hazard that comes into play for shots long and left of the green.

The second par 5 on the front nine features a difficult tee shot to a relatively wide fairway. With bahia to the left, players must carry the ravine that crosses the hole near the tee and attempt to avoid it for the remainder of the hole as it continues up the entire right side. From the fairway, longer hitters may choose to go for the green in two or decide to lay up near the cross bunkers that are approximately 90 yards short of the green. This large green is protected by deep bunkering on the left with a closely mown area on the right.

Another long, challenging par 4.  The seventh tee shot is played uphill to a fairway that crests approximately 25 feet above the teeing ground and is protected by a deep fairway bunker right of the fairway.  The ravine from hole 6 continues up the left side of the 7th hole that very much comes into play off the tee.  The approach shot into the 7th is one of the more beautiful on the course, played from an elevated position across a low area to a slightly elevated green that does not allow for shots to run up.  The green is protected by a very deep bunker on the right and a closely mown area to the left.

The second par 3 on the front nine is the longest of the four on the course, measuring out to just around 240 yards from the Black tee. With out of bounds to the left, and hazard running down the right, the eight hole can be a make or break opportunity before the turn. This green slopes severely from back to front with a slight run off area just before the green.

The final hole of the front nine is a medium length par 4 that typically plays into the prevailing wind.  The tee shot is slightly uphill to a crest in the fairway bordered by deep bunkers on both sides. The approach shot plays back towards the clubhouse into a challenging green with bunkers both left and right. The closely mown area just behind the green makes getting the ball up and down around the 9th quite the challenge.

The inward nine at Westwood begins with a beautiful par 4 that slightly turns from left to right. The tee shot plays to a plateaued fairway, players must avoid a deep bunker left and two smaller bunkers down the right side of the fairway.  The approach shot into the large 10th, is into an elevated green that slopes from back to front. Players need to be accurate as there’s deep bunkering that surrounds the green complex and a hazard that comes into play long and left of the greenside bunker.

A very challenging par 4 with hazards down the right and trees that loom large to the left of the fairway. The eleventh hole has the tendency to play longer than the yardage posted as it normally plays into the wind and has a large slope in the fairway that stops balls that fail to carry over the 200 yard mark. Despite the lack of fairway bunkers on the hole, hitting the fairway is a must to set up the approach shot into a green that slopes severely from back to front and is protected by deep bunkering on the front right and left.

The first par 5 on the back nine is a great risk reward opportunity. With a 90 degree dogleg from left to right, players must decide how aggressive they want to hit their tee shot.  Stronger players can choose to cut the corner taking their tee shot over the water, shortening the hole to two shots. While lesser hitters can lay up short of the fairway bunkers, avoiding the out of bounds and bahia to the right.  A cross bunker that cuts into the right side of the fairway (around the 150 mark) makes for a challenging lay up.  The approach shot into a large green that slopes from back to front should be played below the hole, avoiding the bunkering that surrounds the green.

A great short par 4 with a tee shot can be played in two ways. Players have the option to break out the driver and carry the two cross bunkers or take less and lay up avoiding the hazard that runs down the left side of the hole. The green slopes from back left to front right and is protected by deep bunkering on the left and a closely mown area short and right. Depending on the tee shot, players should either have an approach roughly around 150 yards or just a flip wedge in this green.

The 14th  at Westwood is the longest par 4 on the entire course. From the back tee, this hole measures around 500 yards but typically plays down wind.  Although the fairway is quite wide, there is a deep fairway bunker that cuts into the fairway on the right.  The approach shot is played into a large green with water lurking to the right of the green and deep bunkering short and left lies in wait.

The first par 3 on the back, is a challenging hole that normally plays into a prevailing wind. The tee shot is almost entirely over water with a large lake up the right side. Be wary of the deep bunkering to the left of this green as any shot from the left side faces away towards the hazard and is difficult to stop. This green complex slopes considerably from back left to front right so keeping the ball below the hole is ideal.

A challenging par 4 with a tee shot that plays across water to a plateaued fairway guarded by a deep bunker to the left and thick bahia down the right. Players that find the fairway bunker will have a difficult time carrying the lip to reach the putting surface. The approach shot is played into a large green that slopes severely from back to front and is protected by deep bunkering on both sides.

The final par 3 is the shortest of all at Westwood, the 17th plays into an elevated green protected by deep bunkering on both the left and right. A shot played too strong will find a closely mowed area behind the green where getting the ball up and down becomes a challenge.

The final hole at Westwood is a par 5 that gently moves from right to left.  The tee shot is played to a fairway with no bunkers, but with trees down both sides. The ideal tee shot would find the right side of the fairway setting up the best angle for the layup or approach to the green. Fairway bunkering down the left and water on the right come into play in the landing area for players that choose to lay up. The approach into the final green is fairly straightforward with subtle slopes, bunkering on both sides, and out of bounds long and right.
